Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

How can I save my check?

I don't know what category this falls under. My wages are now being garnished to satisfy a debt not acquired by me. A vehicle still had my name attached to it and driver got inito and accident. I was not there and did not know about it until creditors started contacting me. How do I use the law to release that committment.

Re: How can I save my check?

Your first option is to sue the driver of the car. That may work. Second, you can try to set aside the judgment. Third, you can file to have the garnishment reduced. You can read more about this option at my website, www.californiadebtblog.com.

Re: How can I save my check?

You can sue the person who incurred the debt. Also, if within the statutes, you might move to set aside the judgment, although if you still were the registered owner, you might not be successful.
