In the state of California if husband owes a debt, and is in a nursing home following a cerebral stroke, is the wife responsible to pay it?

In California, you would first need to know the nature of the debt. Is the debt community debt? If it is, then the wife would be responsible to pay that debt. If not, the wife is not responsible.
