Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

currently being sued by CA in L.A. county. Filed my answer and served bill of particulars 2 weeks ago ( no response by the way ) Yesterday I got a collection letter for the same account but from a different collector MCM/Midland Funding saying they bought the account and the whole 30 day to respond or legal action. Is this legal? I just paid $200 to file my answer so what now?

Send them a brief letter (keep a copy), informing them that this matter is already in litigation, and enclose a copy of your answer.
