Why didn't you respond to the lawsuit? Now you are behind the eight-ball. Your lawyer will get one and only one chance to bring a motion to set the judgment aside, which requires a showing that 1) you had a good reason for not responding to the lawsuit (you didn't merely blow it off) and 2) you have a defense to the lawsuit.

You have a limited amount of time to hire an attorney in order to move to set aside the judgment that was entered against you. You need to do this or if the judgment creditor finds an asset, i.e., your job, your bank account, then your wages may be garnished or your bank account levied in order to pay the judgment. If you do not agree that you owe the money, you will want to move to set aside the judgment, but as I said, you have a limited amount of time to make such a motion.

If you want an attorney who is experienced in this area of the law, please call Aimee Morris at 619-991-0548.
