Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

A worthless travel trailor was stolen from my old house 6 years ago. 3 weeks ago it was found abandoned and was towed to a yard. They waited 2 weeks to inform me it was found and they now want me to pay 1400$ to get it out or they will send me to collections. I do not want this trailor or feel I am responsable to pay the bill. What are my options?

Normally an impound yard will waive the charges if you let them sell the vehicle and keep what they get for it. Tell them to do that and since the trailer was stolen you have no responsibility for it. Also point out to them that the law does not allow them to wait two weeks [it is more 2-3 days] to inform you so they can not legally collect the entire billing.
