Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I am being accused of keying someone's car who I've never even met or seen. My ex-wife's friend assumed it was me and told cops it was me. A police officer contacted me for questioning asking me to come to the station. (which I guess this occured in a town 50 miles from me) I was out of town and told him I couldnt come in. He was supposed to contact me for a recorded statement but he never did so I thought I was clear. Come to find out a friend of mine's truck was used in keying the victims car. It was identified by the license plate which was on serveilance camera. The police officer contacted my friend who did not fit the description. I had borrowd this truck before to move a non op motorcycle. (which I have a receipt of date from the shop) The person who keyed the car on the tapes had a hoodie on and you cant see the face. There was another person with the guy in the hoodie and his face could be clearly seen but not identified. I have friends and family who I was with all day and can verify this. But this detective will not leave me alone or quit calling me. I told him I didnt want to answer his questions and that I didnt do anything. I feel that I dont need to explain myself when I'm not guilty. I have no priors and I dont trust cops from a bad experience a few years back. Any advice would be great. Thank you. I reside in California.

You sure know a lot about the incident for someone who claims he was not there.

You were smart to blow off the cops. Many if not most LawGuru questions are from dummies who, at the first sight of a badge, start running on at the mouth, yammering and yakking their way into the jailhouse. I salute you. Please continue not talking to the police and not going to the police station. If you do get arrested ask for a lawyer and they will stop questioning you. Good luck.
