Fifth Amendment

I need to go testify against my boyfriend for domistic violence its a criminal matter I did get subpoena. what will happen to me if I plead the fifth or what will happen at all?

I assume you were the one who had him arrested, so since you wanted him put in jail then, what happened to change your mind? The California Legislature has just passed a law that "victims" can no longer be jailed for refusing to testify. Whether there is some other form of persuasion or coercion that can be brought to bear is another question. Still another question is whether you should do both of you a favor and leave him.
