Arrested for a 647(f)pc

I was arrested recently and charged with a 647(f)pc. This is my first arrest ever (haven't ever had a speeding ticket).

My questions:

a) What is the maximum penalty they could impose?

b) What does the 'pc' stand for at the end of the charge? I know the 647(f) is drunk is public.

The pc is the courts abreviation for penal code. In California penal provisions are contained in several code sections, Business and Professions, Welfare and Insitutions, Welfare etc.

647(f)is a misdemeanor. The maximum sentence foe a misdemeanor is 12 months in county jail and a $1,000.00 fine, plus the penalty assessment which is now as much as 170%. This would make a $1,000 fine a $2,700 fine plus another hundred or so for night court etc.

In most of the drunk in public cases which I have been present the sentence for a first offense is credit for time served and maybe a small fine.

You can ask the judge for an indicated sentence before you plead. Then you have more information upon which you can make your decision.
