Don't get convicted.
148.5 is a misdemeanor, meaning the range of possible penalties is from probation to a year in jail plus $10,000 in fines. Plus you will have a criminal record which will seriously impair your chances of being hired for some time to come.
The best way not to get convicted is to retain an experienced lawyer, but you probably knew that.
