Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

i was detained for 24 hours and after speaking to a detective i was released. does this mean my record is still clean and i don't have to appear in court?

If they were going to arrest you, you'd know it, and you'd have signed a promise to appear in court. However, you did confess to a detective so you might be charged in the future.

You should check with the court where you were arrested to determine whether any charges have been filed. Did the detective tell you that charges were going to be filed?
