Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Indigent Rights

My son is in jail for murder. I have paid for an attorney but do not have add'l funds needed for all the specialist and witness, investigator, ect. Our attorney said my son is eligible for court funds since he is not the one paying for the attorney. Is he still considered ''indigent'' ?However, the ttorney will not tell me if it has been approved, denied or even submitted. Can I find this out? How? what are my sons rights? Can I reveiw the case file at the courts to see what has or has not been done. Is there any info you can direct me to go to?

PLEASE HELP ME.

Re: Indigent Rights

The lawyer you hired can't discuss the representation with you, because your son is the client. Don't take it personally. Your son should indeed be eligibe for court-apointed experts, investigators, etc. You can view or buy copies of documents, except for sealed documents (such as psych reports) in the court file at the clerk's office. Good luck.
