Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Going to jail for Ex-boyfriends crime

My friend has recieved a notice to appear in court to face charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, child endangerment and other charges because she is the registered owner of a car her ex was driving and they found some of her belongings in his home.

She went to talk to the police and an officer told her that if she didn't tell them where her ex was that she would be arrested even though she hasn't lived with him for several months.

She is in San Diego and needs an attorney as the court date on the 18th of this month.

Is it possible that she could go to jail?

Because she was the registered owner of the vehicle it is very possible that she could be sentenced to time in custody, however, many more facts are needed to complete the picture - there may be facts that can be used to her benefit. She can call 619 741 3860 for a free phone consultation.

Yes, it is possible she could go to jail or state prison for a significant length of time, be required to register as a narcotics offender for life, and lose custody of her child, based on the fact that she is indeed being charged with these serious felonies.

However, the probability of a negative outcome cannot be ascertained based on the small amount of information provided thus far. You do need a personal consultation. You can consult with us by phone or in person for free, and get a lot of important information. My partner was a prosecutor in the drug unit for 11 years, and he is a top rated trial attorney. He can give you plenty of valuable insight as to how to avoid any negative implications from these allegations. I'm no slouch either. We can meet with you together, or speak to you on a speaker for a phone consult. If you'd like, call us at (949)380-8004 or (800)515-0233. You can email me at [email protected].

It is very possible, however, she should have the benefit of a vigorous defense and needs to act quickly so that a competent attorney can review the evidence and make appropriate exclusion motions. Call me directly at (619) 222-3504.

Re: Going to jail for Ex-boyfriends crime

Thank you for your inquiry.

Unfortunately, it is possible that she could go to jail. The true probability depends on who the prosecutor and the judge are, and their personal temperament and policies towards cases like this, the evidence in the case, the facts, and the elements of the crimes charged, as well as your friend's prior record.

I'd say she certainly needs an attorney, considering the seriousness of the charges. This may seem biased, coming from an attorney, but the truth is something this important needs to be addressed responsibly and professionally to avoid further harm.

I hope this helps, but if you have other questions, need more information, or feel that your friend needs legal representation, please feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. I'm happy to help in any way that I can.
