Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Park Rangers issued me a citation

Hello,

About four to five months ago I was issued a citation by park rangers in San Francisco, CA for interfering with an agency function. I'm not sure what this means, but the reason they detained me was because my freind and I had accedentaly fallen asleep in my car in a parking lot of a public beach at about 9 in the morning. The rangers had assumed we had spent the whole night there and were accusing me of camping there which was illegal. I was issued a citation but never recieved anything in the mail. Who would I speak to in order to figure out if anything ever happened with the ticket and if anything happened how can I prove that I did nothing wirong? What did I interfere with? There was nothing going on that day.

Re: Park Rangers issued me a citation

When you were issued the citation, you signed a promise to appear in court, and the court address, date, and time are shown on the citation. Since you evidently violated your promise to appear, there is probably a warrant for your arrest out there. If I were you I would inquire at the San Francisco Superior Court website to see if there's a warrant.

If they were federal park rangers, inquire at ecf.cand.uscourts.gov and search criminal cases via the PACER system.

Re: Park Rangers issued me a citation

If you were issued a citation, look at the citation. There is a court date on it as well as a phone number for the court. Once you receive a citation it is your responsibility to respond in a timely manner. You will not receive anything else in the mail.

If your designated court date has passed, chances are a bench warrant against you has been issued.

Hope this helps.
