Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Stupid Egg Incident

I threw 1 raw egg on 3 cars and was caught on camera. One of the car owners called cops. Cop came & said it would be about $100 for detail work on the car. (Cop said I would be thrown in jail if I did NOT pay.) Gal got estimate & said it would be $4000 & I paid $2500 after being intimidated. Apparently she told neighbors I was paying for Scotch Guard that was sprayed on her car a week earlier.

After thinking about it, I stopped payment on the check. Other neighbors found out I was paying that $ and called another cop & said I was paying for Scotch Guard that was sprayed on that car a week before. They wanted $ for the Scotch Guard sprayed on their cars also which I didnt do. The cop said he could NOT do anything because they did not have proof that I did that.

She is taking me to the DA for a hearing on 9/18/01 at the Bellflower District Attorneys Office to determine if I should be prosecuted for 1egg.

Yesterday a sheriff called me at work and informed that she is NOW claiming that the front car window is cracked. (Never heard that before.) The car is a dented old Camero.

For 1 raw egg, what is the likelihood that the DA will prosecute me?

Re: Stupid Egg Incident

If the D. A. has you on camera there's a 100% chance you'll be prosecuted. And it appears you confessed to the police and wrote a check, which can be used in evidence. D. A.s don't generally pass up 100% cases.

Sorry, but your email didn't hit the system until 10/25/01. It's possible that you found out that the case will not be prosecuted after the DA hearing, but if it is filed, you should think about retaining a criminal lawyer to represent you. I would be happy to meet with you for a free initial consultation to discuss your case and respresentation.
