Legal Question in DUI Law in California

booked for DUI marijuana

i was pulled over for speeding and cop discovered i had been smoking while driving - stupid i know. i cooperated (as you could smell in car) and showed him remains of joint which he took as evidence. he booked me in county jail and i was released after about 7 hours but i am yet to receive charges in mail. court date is in 3 days. i agreed to urine test, cop seemed nice and ''appreciated my being honest and cooperative''. have never been arrested before. what can i expect in court? i have not contacted a lawyer before.

At the hearing you can either plead not guilty and set the case for trial, or plead to some charge, either was is stated on the citation or something else per agreement with the city attorney or DA. You'll have to provide more information. Good luck.

Nice cooperative people get DUI convictions, do time, have their licenses suspended, and can't get jobs afterward. Fortunately for you, a good attorney can usually beat a MJ DUI or reduce it to a $100 possession ticket. Get your head out of the clouds and call a lawyer.

The charges are serious, but are beatable. Consult with an experienced attorney. There are deadlines that you don't want to miss. Good luck.
