I received a dui last weekend and I'm not sure if hiring a lawyer would really be helpful

A lawyer will be able to tell you whether it's a good idea take a particular plea deal from the prosecutor. Additionally, you're likely to get a better offer from the prosecutor if you're represented, as the prosecutor will want to avoid having to go to trial. Finally, I wouldn't suggest going to trial on your own.
