Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California

Entertainment Contract

I signed a contract with an agent. The contract does not have an expiration date or terms. I want to terminate the contract but the agent refuses.

In addition to Gordon's views, you might want to check and see if the agent is lawfully registered in the State of california. if not, you don't owe commissions and may be able to get previously paid commissions returned.

Re: Entertainment Contract

A contract that doesn't specify terms is probably terminable at will, but you'll want to check with an attorney who can actually review the contract in question. My guess is that there's SOME kind of term or termination clause.

Also, California has a 7-year limit on personal service contracts, so that may be a way out.

Consult an attorney.
