Legal Question in Family Law in California

on the 30th day to respond to divorce papers it just so happens that california courts were closed due to state cut backs which is the 3rd wednesday of every month i didn't know this , so i returned the following business day but it seems as though as soon as the doors opened the following morning she put in for a default , i put in a motion to set aside the default but was unsuccessful due to car problems so after i recieved judgement papers , is there anything i can do ?

You must have been a lot later than one day. If the last day to respond to a summons and petition was a court holiday (and court furlough days are considered court holidays) the filing of a response the very next day would have been timely. Your default should not have been entered.

I don't understand how you lost a motion to set aside the default due to car problems. You need to have your matter reviewed by an attorney ASAP.
