Legal Question in Family Law in California

Can a 17 year old soon to be 18 with in a week, leave home just because she won't move with her mother to oregon and she doens't want to be home and can this leave the parent free of any legal responsibility?

Parents are legally responsible for their children until they are 18 years of age unless they are emancipated. There are some exceptions but they are few and far between.

An 18 year old is an adult and can live where she/he choses. However, the parent is financially responsible for the 18 year old until the child is no longer enrolled as a full time student in high school, is emancipated or turns 19. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
