Legal Question in Family Law in California

When does child support begin in California?

I had an amicable uncontested divorce in California. After the marital settlement agreement was done, when did the non-custodial parent have to start paying child support? I did not get a order to show cause b/c he attempted to give some money each month. Now he wants to say he did not have to pay it during the first 6 month waiting period. Is this true?

Child support begins once an order has been signed, or, by agreement of the parties. This really depends upon what your marital settlement agreement states. Your local County Department of Child Support Services can help you with this, and the great thing is that they are free. They are good at this.
