child support

i owe back child support my exwife faxed me a notarized letter forgiving me of the debt i owe . i have a court date soon to try and get my license reiissued but the court says they wont accept the letter. the DA even called her and believes it to be her and i didnt somehow forge the letter, but they want her to appear and she lives 250 miles away, what can i do?? my daughter is 28 years old.

Re: child support

They won't accept it because it doesn't say the right thing. The child support is considered to be for the benefit of the child (even after the child is over 18) and the judge won't give "forgive" it if it wasn't paid. You have to use careful language about the payment of the child support for it to be accepted.
