Legal Question in Family Law in California

Can you commit someone to rehab if on drugs?

My mom and I are very concerned for my sister who has been on vidodin's meds for 7 years or more. she buys off the internet and takes probably more the 20 a day. she is always broke and has stolen from me when I had them after neck surgery. she has stole meds from peoples homes, etc... she is now starting to lose it mentally and lose her teeth (little by little) she is a mother of 2 small children and has never been sober with her youngest who is now almost 7. she is angry and violent all the time, no patience and very vindictive. she no longer has any friends because she doesn't care about anyone but the drugs. Can we commit her to rehab with a court order???

thank you

You should act to protect the children. If necessary take action to obtain a guardianship to protect them. Unless you take action the children may be injured.
