Dissomaster is a proprietary software program developed by a company called CFLR and acquired by Thompson*West. It is the official approved software used by the family law departments of all the Superior Courts of California to calculate guideline child support and spousal support according to the very convoluted formula required by the Family Code. Because the formula is so complicated, the courts mandate use of a Judicial Council approved program for calculating proposed support figures. I believe there is one other approved program, but pretty much everyone uses Dissomaster because it's what the courts use themselves. The Family Code formula requires taxes to be taken into account, so exemptions are a factor in the program. It automatically estimates exemptions based on the family and income information you put in, but if your actual exemptions are different, you can override the program by manually changing the exemptions. Your actual exemptions are between you and the IRS. So you should make sure the actual exemptions you are entitled to under the Internal Revenue Code and regulations are what show in Dissomaster, rather than thinking Dissomaster controls the exemptions.
