Divorce in other country

If i got married in State of California is it legal to get a divorce in the Dominican Republic and it being legal in the State of california even though me and my ex are in the navy?

One of you must be a resident in the country in which you obtain the dissolution or divorce. If you can meet that condition while you are in the U.S. military service, you can obtain a dissolution. Otherwise, it will probably not be recognized in U.S. Good Luck, Pat McCrary

Residency controls ...6 mos there? If not where? California offers a summary dissolution if less than 5 years married with no children and little property. Call me directly at 16192223504.
