Legal Question in Family Law in California

domestic violence

Last night I was upset with the attitude of my teenager to me at home. I was so angry that I started destructive activities eg screaming and yelling and turning the TV loud so no one could sleep. My husband came out of the room to turn off the TV and tried to restrain my hands to not turn on the TV loud. (He is a very calm and loving husband and never gave me any hard times during 20 yrs of marriage). But I called the police in anger. They came and just booked my husband in jail, with $20,000 bail, and accused my husband of domestic battery, which is very untrue. How do we prove to the judge that he is actually helping me, and not mistreating me while I had a very unstable mind.

Re: domestic violence

The first thing to do is for him to retain an attoreny to represent him in this matter. Second he should not discuss this matter with anyone but the attorney, including you. Marriage counseling could also be helpful in negotiating a settlement. You could also take an anger management class.
