Legal Question in Family Law in California

family law and your employer

can my employer ask for child support orders for a child that is now 14years old. They want to determine if I support her more then 50% after her support payments to continue her on my work benefits. I was employed with this company when she was born. I had provided birth certificate 14 years ago. They are now trying to find areas to cut costs. My child lives full time with me. I have other children from my current marriage and my employer is not trying to disclude them from my benefits. Can they discriminate against my one child from a different relationship because of support that i receive for this child and not allow benefits she has been receiving since the day she was born?

Re: family law and your employer

California requires parents to provide medical insurance for their children when it is available through their employer. This requirement to provide medical insurance applies to parents that have little on no visitation. I would think that your only requirement would be to show that she is your child.
