Legal Question in Family Law in California

To file papers to modify child custody do I have to be present in the County that the divorce occurred or can I do it remotely. I live in a different county?

You can file from anywhere in the world, by mail, by fax in some counties, or by using a court filing service such as OneLegal.com. If you do not reach agreement on a modification before the hearing date set by the court, however, you will have to show up in court for the hearing or have a lawyer appear for you.
