can you file for divorce in a state in which you dont live

You can get married in any state but you must file for divorce in a state that you live or a state that your spouse lives. Otherwise the court will not have jurisdiction. If you both live in the same state, you must file in that state. Good Luck, Pat McCrary

It depends on the law of the state in which you wish to file.

In CA, a case can be filed where EITHER the Petitioner or the Respondent resides.
