Legal Question in Family Law in California

On form FL-190 In the statement box where it says effective date of termination ... and to specify the date, do I put in the date? And if so, is there some rule to the date that I put on there? For instance, does it have to be a certain amount of days away?

Your Judgment should include a date that the dissolution is effective in section 4.a.1. You use that date. If 4.a.2. is checked instead, you need to make a motion or file a stipulation as to the date the dissolution is effective.

I agree with Mr. McCormick. The date the dissolution is effective is usually a date 6 months after the court acquired jurisdiction over the respondent. That is usually the date respondent was served with the summons and petition.
