Legal Question in Family Law in California

the ask out game

My husband is in the military and walked out on me and the children, but to save his career still will pay the mortgage and the bills until the divorce is final, he does not want me to get a lawyer saying we can do this all through the base legal and save thousands of dollars, he will retire soon, and we have been married for 14 years, with 3 children, he makes aprox. 6,100 per month and says he will pay child support and all that is required by law, my question is what are we entilted to? I have been a stay at home mom for the entire marriage, I have no college, and am not in anyway prepared to be able to support my children on my own with this sudden tragesty, He went to war and then came home a years later, said we are getting a divorce and I need to find a job! I understand that I will need to do that, but without any previous knowledge and my own naievity I feel as if I am being blindsided and do not want to be manipulated by him anymore. I just need to know whqat my rights are, as far as our debt, the house, and our children.

Re: the ask out game

You should consult an attorney regarding your rights. Some portion of his military retirement would be community property. You would be entitled to 1/2.
