health insurance coverage
Hello,
I have a court order stating that the NCP is to provide health/dental insurance coverage for our child. If the NCP quits their job on their own and refuses to pay for Cobra coverage, does the court order apply to Cobra coverage as well? Or am I now responsible for the insurance coverage/will the court make me provide for it? Problem is, if I do cover our child through my employer, I know that the NCP will not put our child back on his future health insurance. Thank you for any information, I appreciate it.

That depends upon the specific order for the health insurance. There are two common orders, one says that the party is to obtain insurance if it is available through his employer, in which case, if he does not have an employer, he does not need to provide the insurance. The other common order just states that he is required to maintain insurance, in such case he has to maintain the COBRA or comparable coverage. But the order could also be worded in many other different ways. There is no statutory wording that would apply to all cases.
