Legal Question in Family Law in California

I was hired at 50% time 3 years ago and I accepted her request to increase to 75% time 2 years ago. Now my boss is insisting I go to full time. I can't do this at the present time because I am a single parent and have standing responsibilities with my minor children. Can she fire me?

California is an at will state so unless you have an employment contract stating what your hours are, you can be fired without any reason being given.
