I want to know how does joint custody work if one of the parents moves about 4 hours away. I also need to know how does holiday schedule work for joint custody if we have week to week custody. does the parent that starts a week during the childrens christmas break get them the whole break or just continue the week to week

That's up to you and the other parent. If you can't work it out, then you have to file a motion or OSC to modify the existing order. Generally if you are on a week-on/week-off 50/50 schedule, and there is nothing in the order about holidays, then you just stay on schedule unless you agree otherwise. Most people agree otherwise. If one parent has moved 4 hours away, it sounds like you need a modification by agreement or order anyway, since that is too far for kids to commute for school.
