Legal Question in Family Law in California

Married someone who I later found out was already married

I have always lived in California. Approximately 10 years ago, I married someone who was also residing in California. We were married in Las Vegas, NV. I later found out he was already married for a number of years. I later had to file a restraining order against him for domestic violence, and I have had no contact with him since about a month or two after we were married. I do not know where he is or even if he is still in the country. If he was married when I married him, does that automatically void my marriage to him? If I am considered legally married to him, what do I need to do to close the matter?

Re: Married someone who I later found out was already married

You are still married until the marriage is considered void by a Judge. You could get an annulment by publication either in Nevada if you were married there or in California where you live.
