Legal Question in Family Law in California

Does it matter?

I have a court appearance in November in CA for custody/visitation issues - I'm asking for more time. I live in NY and am already having hardships. How much does it really matter if I call in instead of making an appearance. Will my calling in be a deciding factor for the judge? Basically I want to know if I call in, will that hurt my case or does it really matter? Thanks for answering my question.

I can not say that what effect your using a telephone appearance over a personal appearance will have. I have had clients who have used both and have had both positive and negative results from it. I feel that a personal appearance is always preferable to a telephone appearance since the judge gets to have a more complete picture and not a disjointed voice over the telephone.
