Legal Question in Family Law in California

Modify current wage assignment

I am trying to find out what forms I need to file or do to change wage assignment issued to ex husband company in Ca and transfer it to ex husbands company in Chicago? I would also like to know how to add some of the debt he owes for jugdments ordered in divorce?

Re: Modify current wage assignment

I'd suggest you contact the Family Law Facilitator's office or the DA's office about the wage assignment.

As for the debts your ex owes, if the divorce isn't finished yet, you can add those to your claims for relief from the court. If the divorce is already finished, it's trickier. If it's a debt he was supposed to pay as part of the judgment but hasn't, you can bring an action to enforce the judgment (i.e., motion for contempt of the court's orders). If it's newly discovered debt, you may have to re-open the judgment to get that debt included. You'll be required to prove you didn't know about it first.

Good luck!
