Legal Question in Family Law in California

My parents have both died recently but my sister who lived near them never informed me of the fact or the time or any funeral arrangements. Is there a legal recourse for being deprived of being able to attend a funeral or even know that they have died? I found out when an uncle called me 2 months after my dad died.

There is no legal recourse for bad family relations. If your parents left an estate you can file a petition in probate court to become the executor of the estate, or request an accounting if the parents left the estate in the care of your sister.
