Son hits parked car with bicycle while under mothers care

I am divorced and while under mothers care my son hit a parked vehicle bith his bike denting a door and front fender for what owner says to be 1600.00 in damage. who is responsible? Should vehicle owner use insurance or can he claim immediate cash pmnt. Is my 15 yr old son subject to criminal charges?

Both you and your wife are responsible only if the damage by your son a resulf of willful misconduct by your son, i.e. criminal. Although I don't have all of the facts, criminal charges are highly unlikely. Your son is responsible for the damage. This damage would be covered under the homeowners or personal liability insurance of both you and the mother's policies. Turn it over to the insurance company and forget it. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
