Legal Question in Family Law in California

my son is 16 years old. I have sole legal and physical custody. He wanted to live with his father so I allowed him to 9 months ago because he was getting out of control. How can I get him to live with me if he refuses. Do I call the police? Does he go to Juvinile hall?

Its difficult with a child of that age. You will need to contact the police and tell them you have a court order that states you are the sole parent of this child. Whats difficult is the age of the child and that they may rebel and run away. You may need to discuss things with the other parent to see how you can resolve the situation. You may want to consider letting the child go into therapy to work out what the internal isses are with him.

For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.

As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
