Legal Question in Family Law in California

What is support %?

I make 12.50 an hour and work 40 hours a week. I have 3 girls 7, 4 and 3. My husband (seperated) works 40 hours at 25.00 an hour. How do we figure support? I believe it to be a percentage after your net income....I just am unaware of the percent.........Thank You

Re: What is support %?

Support is calculated by a computer program. To figure child support the number of children, percent of time with each parent and the gross income of each parent. There are some limited items which are also considered in the calculation. Check with the local family court regarding a legal clinic. You can receive assistance in determining the information to be entered into the program.

Re: What is support %?

Hi,

Mr. Johnson's advice is absolutely correct. I just want to add that you may be entitled to spousal support as well. You should be careful because it can be risky proceeding without an attorney. If you do not yet have counsel, give me a call so we can thoroughly prepare your case. Considering the disparity between your income levels, the court might order your husband to pay your attorney's fees.

Very truly yours,

Russ Martin
