Legal Question in Family Law in California

Visitation transporation arrangements

When I got divorced, I stayed living in the same city but my ex-husband has moved several times to cities 1/2 hour away. Are there any laws/rules on who should provide transporation to and from his home for the children to visit him?

Re: Visitation transporation arrangements

Travel time of 1/2 hour one way for a visit is probably not going to be condisered a problem by the court. In some of the larger populations areas such travel times to pick up a child are quite common. However, you may be able to get a court order that he is to notify you before he moves. If he were to move to a location such that traffic flow was a problem during commute times should be taken into consideration, and the time of the exchange modified to reduce the effect of commute traffic.
