waiting period for dissolution after legal separation

can 6 months of legal separation count as the 6 months waiting period for dissolution of marriage?

NO!!! Family Code Section 2339 provides that for the purpose of terminating the marriage relationship, the six month period starts from the time that the summons and petition is served or the respondent appears, whichever occurs first.

No--the six months is from the start of the dissolution process, not the legal separation.

The six months commence from the date when summons of the petition are served upon the opposite party
