Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Bad Neighbors

I need to find out what can be done about our neighbors. It started when they & their visitors kept blocking our driveway with their cars. We asked them not to do so, but it kept on happening, though less often now (thanks to calling the police). Their eldest son (not sure if a legal adult yet) is a gang member & after a few confrontations with my mother - she had to tell them to not use their BBQ between our houses as the space is than 4 feet across & they had it pressed against our wall, & not to pee or litter on our property - he gives her dirty looks, tries to stare her down, & even physically assaulted her a few months ago (sprayed her in the face with a hose). We have had the police over so many times. Unfortunately, when he assaulted her, she decided not to press charges (we were livid w/ her, but she was afraid of him). He was shot recently in a drive-by, but it only grazed him. We put a fence in, but they continue to throw their cig butts over it & we found 4. One had burned through some plastic. We are waiting for the officer now & are planning to file a report. We have taken pictures. Should we hire a lawyer and sue? What about protective/restraining orders? My mom is so stressed; she & my dad are on disability. Help!

Re: Bad Neighbors

Contact adult protective services and ask for help. This service is similar to child protective services. If they find elder abuse then they can take action against the neighbors and it will not cost them for the legal fees.

Re: Bad Neighbors

Can possibly get a restraining order and also for private nuisance. You should consult with an attorney.
