Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

My belongings were sold w/out my persmission

Whittier California:

I left my belongings with my brother before I moved out of state about 9 months ago with the verbal agreement that I would have them shipped to me. Come to find out this weekend that he had a yard sale and sold my belongings without my permission. Can I take him to small claims, is this worth pursuing, and what evidence would the judge need?
