my boyfriend is in jail. and i need to have a key made to his car. but only the regestered owner can get a key made by the dealership because its a 2000 bmw. how can i prove that hes giving me the right to get a key made, to the dealership.

Draft a letter giving you permission to have a key made. Then send a notary public to the jail where LBF is being held and have the letter notarized, that should do the trick.

Mr. Stone may be right, but before you go to that trouble, I suggest you ask the dealership what they will accept. This is a matter of their policy, not a legal issue. They are not legally obligated to make a key for anyone, so if they are willing to make one for you with his consent, it will be on whatever terms they require for proving his consent.
