job termination

I got terminated from a job from a manager who was a friend. He then called freinds and told all about it? is this legal?

I assume that you are not disputing that he had the right to fire you. What he is doing is damaging your reputation and you could sue him for slander [libel is if it is in writing; libel rhymes with eyeball] but it would cost over $15,000 for an attorney and a jury likely would not award you very much. You could hire some retired attorney or other who charges must under the going rate and have the attorney send him a letter demanding he stop or run the risks of being sue. You could also contact the HR department of the employer and see if they have a policy against such behavior, so as to put pressure on him from the employer's side.
