Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

landlord breach of lease due to illegal dwelling

I signed a 1 year lease to live in a guest house, I have lived there 5 months so far. My landlord just informed me that she has been at war with the housing department and she lost. Apparently the guest house is not up to code. I now have to vacate the premesis in 30 days. She offered to pay a $2000 moving fee. Do I have any other recourse (i.e. since the house was not legal when she rented it to me wasn't the lease fraudulent?)

Re: landlord breach of lease due to illegal dwelling

You have the right to similar housing at the same cost. If it ends up costing you more to get new housing then you can sue the landlord for the difference.
