What do I do About A neglagent Car Dealer?

My Husband Bought a car in June and a couple weeks later it broke down. It was parked outside of my Mothers house for a little while while he was waiting to recieve the licence plates, tags and title to the vehicle. In mid October the car was still not running, he had not recieved the plates, tags or title and the police came and put the car in impound because it wasnt registered, but my husband could not register it with out the title and plates and tags. It is now nov and the car is still in impound because he had to have the registration to get the car out and the dealer finally went through with the papers but he still hasnt recieved the tags...ect. How do we go about getting a refund for a car, or at least the money for repairs and impound or getting the dealer for neglet. If we cant do those then what do we do?

It sounds like you may have a claim under the Consumer Legal Remedies Act. Under that Law, you can get a refund of all your monetary losses as well as an award of attorney fees and punitive damages. In order to proceed under this law, you must first send the dealer a legal notice by registered mail--You should get an attorney experienced in this area of law to prepare the legal notice for you.

Call the DMV and report the dealer to them. They will contact the dealer. If that fails then you could sue him in either small claims court or if the amount exceeds the small claims court jurisdicition, $5,000 max, you can file in superior court.
