Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Personal property damage by visitor

My little baby broke a vase at our friend's house. Our fried accepted our oral apology and also asked for reimbursement. She said although the vase was cheap but was a gift from her mom so had a sentimental value in it. She asked for $50. What should I do?

If it had sentimental but little intrinsic value, perhaps offer to have it repaired.

If she is truly a friend, talk to her about her request. The quickest way to lose that friendship is to bring lawyers into the picture over a $50 issue.
