Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

I received a summons for collection of credit card debt (less than 10k) from a law firm. I went to the courthouse and filed a response within 30 days of being served and paid the filing fee. I live in California. Does the law firm suing me have a time limit to request a trial after I have filed my response? If so how long do they have?

They can request a trial at any time within two years. They probably will file for a trial soon because there are almost no defenses for credit card debt. They might just go for summary judgment which usually happens but have to wait 60 days after filing the answer or general appearance.

My advice would be to work out a deal.
